First, go through your photos that you would like to share and this is very important: make absolutely sure that their file names do not have any special characters or apostrophes and the resolution (size of your photo) is no larger than 640 x 480. If the file names do have any special characters or apostrophes, you will need to rename them. If they are larger than 640x480 (chances are they will be since digital cameras take HUGE pictures), you will need to resize them.
Please use jpg for the file extension.
Renaming your file names: This is easy!
File name with a character (an apostrophe) that's not allowed because it will cause trouble:
|
Suppose I wanted to upload this file to my page. But wait! It has an apostrophe in the file name. To avoid problems, we need to just rename it now. Luckily this is very easy to do. :) |

In Windows Explorer, right click on the file that you need to rename. It will become highlighted and a box will appear with a list of options. Left click once on "Rename". |
Apostrophe all gone!
|
You'll have cursor available now in the file name. From here, I generally use the left arrow key on my keyboard to place the cursor just to the right of the apostrophe and hit the backspace key to get rid of the offending character. (too bad we can't do that in real life!) After that, just hit "Enter" on your keyboard or left click anywhere on your screen once. |
Resizing Your Photos: (This is easy too!)
Digital cameras take absolutely HUGE pictures! While this is great for showing a lot of detail or printing portraits or whatever, this is terrible when you have limited web space (the larger the photos, the more space they'll take up) and is very frustrating for those who are stuck with a dial up Internet connection because it will take an incredibly loooong time before the picture fully loads for them.
If you don't already have a favorite photo editing program that you prefer, Windows XP comes with a free program called 'Paint". If you need help with that, here is a wikiHow page with directions (the link will open in a new window):
Now that your photos are ready, on to the next step!

Instead, we invite you to browse our members' pages to enjoy the photos :)
We have limited space so we have to limit this feature to IBI club members only.

IMPORTANT! Make sure each photo has a unique title before you add the photo to your gallery. Note: This title will not show up on your page. However, you can enter it right into your description if you want to. You can also type a description for your photo if you like. This is optional. |
Now you can check your page to see how it looks. If it's ok, you can add another photo or log out if you're done. If you would like to add to or edit your description, you can click on the "Edit a Photo" link.

If you choose and if you know how, you can use basic BBC (Bulletin Board Code) in your bio and descriptions. (For bold, italics or underline text effects...) but you don't have to if you don't want to. Here are some samples :
